Tate Britain Visit, London

10/03/11
The Tate Gallery - now Tate Britain - was named in honour of Sir Henry Tate, the sugar merchant, who donated the original collection. It houses the national collection of British paintings from the 16th-20th centuries. Other collections housed at the Tate include various different forms of Art that have a unique juxtaposition with the architecture and its original concept.
This represents the post-modern meaning that are articulated through objects and how they reinforcing a constantly evolving interest in Modern art.

Rare examples of the work of famed graffiti artist Banksy are on sale in Oxford.

Included is a locked 1970s bank safe with a guide price of £60,000, on which the anonymous Bristol-based artist stencilled a parachuting rat.

Art dealer Adrian Greenwood said: "Most of Banksy's urban works are on somebody's wall so they're not very portable or saleable.

"It's rare to have something like a safe you can take out and sell."

As a pioneering new shop, KOP are trying to engage with the broader community, offering a unique insight with designated outdoor paint spaces.
On the surface KOP is a spray paint outlet and gallery space, but it also aims to be a hub for artists, run by artists, that is dedicated to giving the city’s scene a much-needed, designated space; to exhibit, meet, hang out, draw and paint.
