King Of Paint

The opening exhibition proved to be a fun night, artwork was being displayed by two friends of mine, I wanted to check out the style of artwork being produced and the type of products or services that were on on offer.
As a pioneering new shop, KOP are trying to engage with the broader community, offering a unique insight with designated outdoor paint spaces.
On the surface KOP is a spray paint outlet and gallery space, but it also aims to be a hub for artists, run by artists, that is dedicated to giving the city’s scene a much-needed, designated space; to exhibit, meet, hang out, draw and paint.

Conan O'Brien American Express Ad-Review

The television advert starts off with a romantic view of a Mediterranean cityscape cutting to a very old record player, next we see a team of local craftsmen and women working in a glass blowing workshop.
This creates the setting, and communicates to the viewer, along with the accompanying music the many different languages that are being used to illustrate the creative process.
The main figure, in this case "Conan O'Brien" is depicted as a unpredictable, sporadic character. Development and manipulation of signs are communicated using iconic, indexical & symbolic signs in the form or object e.g.(Applause sign).
The satirical concept that outlines the syntagmatic & paradigmatic relations between the signifier and the signified, are shown in this case when the Artist is finally pleased with his work and the craftsmanship that has gone into producing the object.
He then proceeds to test the (Applause sign), completing his parole whilst further communicating an iconic yet more subtle connotative meaning.

Debates in my chosen area

Do artists/creative practitioners have more responsibility than other members of society for addressing social issues?

Artists have always been at the forefront of change and social responsibility.
Defying conventions and setting trends, the artists influence and creativity never fails to captivate , inspire and educate.
Why are we so engaged as a globe in what is happening around us and does it have a direct impact on humanity as a whole and are benefiting from it socially.

A Legal and Ethical History of Photography

Comments: Most of these debates center around the ability to "generate intense controversy", I was also struck back at the legitimacy of the topics, the suggestion that "what interests us is how this meaning is perceived in changing historical circumstances" this is an accurate observation of our times.
The political debate of moral attitudes and the boundries or taboos broken, show how ethical issues are relevant to the subject and how photography can also help to promote and document awareness of these social issues.
I do think that our society is reluctant to realize the importance and responsibility of the media, newspaper and online information resources, this press-release points out the social conformity and its advantages and dis-advantages, as well as "the extremes of voyeurism and sensationalism" that photographers are willing to go to, for example:Papporatzi.

Sub definitions of Creative Practices

The Graphics/insignia that I see everyday are, relevant to the my experience as the viewer with also affects how I think as an individual.
This observational task was intended to get me to consider the sub-definitions of creative practices that I interact with every day, helping me to define my chosen specialism.

This site is a really good model of how art can be marketed on a commercial scale, the ideas and concepts really show what is possable in the new digital age.

Met tutor for the first time today, was a good lecture.
Went through some of the learning objectives, talked briefly about how to go about recording our inspiration and understanding and progress with regards to my professional practice.

Have got to go on blackboard and complete tasks for next week.
